found pens and pencils and notebooks and lunchbox and clean exand crayons and everything and anything the child could need. and store managers say sales have been good the last couple weeks as well. and wal-mart stores contacted area schools to help with back to school shopping by providingparents with a lies of -- with a list of supplies students need for each grade level. >> all the stores are fully stocked with back to school items. so moms can come in and get a wide variety of selection. tons of backpacks and competition notebooks and filler paper and everything they are looking for. >> reporter: national retail foundation says that sales are up as opposed to last year when it comes to back to school supplies and once again in the baltimore area, school starts on monday august 27th. and now coming up at 6:00 we will talk to teachers about shopping for their back to school supplies for some of the students. reporting live in towson, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. before you make a salad for

lunch make sure you are not using this recalled lettuce. the california company is recalling the romaine lettuce due to possible e.coli contamination. that lettuce was shipped to 19 states including here in maryland. no illnesses have been reported but if you have the lettuce, throw it away right now. we enjoyed a nice break from the really high embase prices but guess what -- gas prices but they are back. the price for a gallon of regular is up a nickel and up nearly 30 cents from a month ago. the the national average is 3.72 and analyst say part of the rise comes from the situation out west. >> we have seen different list ropingss west coast -- disruptions west coast and great lakes even if you are not in the west coast or great lakes you are seeing rising prices. >> the average price in baltimore is $3.66 and that's 2 cents cheaper than the state average. sometime for five things to know on this monday.

accused ohio school shooter t.j. lane set to appear in court today. the 17-year-old is charged with murdering three students and wounding three others. the. a new trial date could come from today's scheduled hearing. >> the suspects from the july 4th stabbing death in baltimore's inner harbor are due in cork. marcus harris could enter a plea and this is his second degree murder charge that he is facing when he a appears at 11. he is accused of stack joseph calo in the neck who was advicing from virginia. a big celebration at lockheed marten for the 100th birthday. the middle river facility currently employs 400 people. a working replica of the pusher plane is going to be feature. state leaders scheduled to attend including ben carden and -- cardin and governor o'malley. some students at the university of maryland started a petition to get the campus chick-fil-a shut down in response to the comments made about same sex marriage by a company executive. the online petition calls on

so now the sun is setting at 7:54. so, where has the time gone? the satellite and radar picking up on clouds this morning. a few showers still trying to pop up very spotty in nature. that's going to be the scenario going into the afternoon. but we look on the back edge here and these are the thick clouds the ones at the surface, the white look clouds. as we head further back into western maryland, you are seeing some lighter clouds and that means more sunshine is going to be peeking through going throughout the day. so it's not going to be a socked in type of day where we are not going to see sunshine. so, that's going to be good for a monday. we go to the tropics and we do see an area of disturbed weather and this will be our next tropical depression as we head through the next 24 to 48 hours. that is moving off towards the west. but for today, our weather will bring us a chance for showers in the forecast. and that will linger as we head into wednesday. 78 is what i am going for and 63 by this evening with a passing shower and more of the same as we head into tomorrow. and look at the forecast, as we will begin to dry things out
